  • Free Workshop for Churches in a Rural Setting -Please see the below link for a five-week workshop series on Pandemic, Faith, and the  Rural community. It is a free workshop and will be taught by a UMC adjunct at Garrett whose work is centered on rural Church communities. It is offered through the Hinton Center, one of a few retreat centers supported by the SEJ. Mayor Sandy Stimpson sent an email about COVID-19 and stated: "Every day, ordinary Mobilians are stepping up and doing extraordinary things to help us overcome this threat to our community. We want to hear those stories, no matter how big or small."  The City of Mobile has created a special page on their website where you can share good deeds. Please visit the "Mobile Samaritans" page by clicking here and share the good deeds The United Methodist Church is doing in the Mobile area and surrounding communities.

  • 2020 Annual Conference - The 2020 session of annual conference continues to be revised as health and safety projections are made for large gatherings in late summer and fall. Because it is difficult to forecast, the conference is now shifting to a virtual-only event to be held June 28-29, 2020. There are many details to be arranged that will be announced at a later date, including a revised working agenda. Only essential reports and tasks will be conducted at this conference.
  • May 17th has been recommended by Bishop David Graves for churches to remain closed. However, churches need to utilize this time to carefully plan for how they will reopen in the future.
