First Annual "Love in Action" Event

Announcing the UMC Mobile District's first annual valentine event, “Love in Action.” The driving force for this event comes from the words found in John 13:35 (NRSV), “By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.” Each year, all of the Mobile District churches will be invited to come together in serving a church in need. It is an event that will be held each February near Valentine’s Day in effort to share our "love for one another.” This year’s event will be a District-wide work day at West Wilmer United Methodist Church.

Be a Part of the First Annual District Valentine, “Love in Action”

Come join us for a day of food, fun and serving as we share our "love for one another" in a District-wide work day.  Tell your members about this exciting upcoming event where all will be blessed as we enjoy a day together, meeting members throughout the Mobile District and serving our only mission church. Come be a part of a God’s presence in the West Wilmer community!

Where: West Wilmer United Methodist Church
15231 Starlight Ave.
Wilmer, AL 36587
When:  Saturday, February 10, 2018

New Semester Begins Soon for Students at USA Wesley Foundation

As a new semester begins in January, the USA Wesley Foundation wants to continue the tradition of providing meals each Tuesday night. We are seeking volunteers to help provide this meal each week.  This is an important time in the lives of these young students and what a great opportunity for you to show hospitality and get to know them as they grow in their relationship with Christ!  They expect to feed approximately 40 folks each week. Wesley will have paper products and drinks so you only need the meal... but be sure to include a dessert – we are talking about college students you know.  :-)  You are welcome to stay and eat with the students or you may simply drop off the food at the Wesley Foundation by 5:30pm. This could be a great project for your Sunday School Class or a small group within your church.
Please consider supporting the students of The Wesley Foundation in this way and click here to find available dates and sign up!

Lay Servant Training Scheduled

Mobile District:

Lay Servant Ministries is a United Methodist Church leadership development program focused on equipping and empowering laypersons who have responded to the call of God to serve in mission and ministry. The program emphasizes three study paths: Certified Lay Servant, Certified Lay Speaker and Certified Lay Minister.

All paths begin with a basic step titled “Introduction to Lay Ministry: The Basic Course.” Beginning Jan. 10, Christ United Methodist Church will offer this basic course on our campus for 10 weeks each Wednesday from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. John Sellers, director of Lay Servant Ministries for the Mobile District, will teach the course.

Designed to help people become the disciple God wants them to be, the basic course opens the door to advanced studies in prayer, worship, Methodist beliefs, and preaching, just to mention a few.

United Methodist Development Fund - How We Can Partner With You?

The Development Fund would like to help your church build, expand, or renovate. We loan money to churches at rates that are significantly lower than typical commercial rates and we offer loan terms of up to 15 years. In addition, the Development Fund charges no points or closing costs.

Because we are a non-profit that serves our conference, the Development Fund Board is made up of United Methodists with financial backgrounds and also has experience complying to the Book of Discipline guidelines for building and loan projects. The reward received from helping churches like Navarre is "why we do what we do," says Terri Turner, Executive Director of the Alabama-West Florida United Methodist Foundation.

When considering finance options for your next project we invite you to fill out a loan application at www.alwfumf.org

To get started on a new loan for your ministry, contact Terri at 334-793-6820 or foundation@alwfumf.org.
